What is Prevention of Sexual Harassment Act, 2013?

Lok Sabha passed the Act on 3 September 2012 and subsequently passed by Rajya Sabha on 26 February 2013. Thereafter, on 23 April 2013 it received the assent of the President and finally came into force on 9 December 2013.

Sexual Harassment of Women at Workplace (Prevention, Prohibition and Redressal) Act, 2013 was framed on the background of Vishaka Guidelines for Prevention Of Sexual Harassment (POSH) introduced by the Supreme Court (SC) of India. The Act could uplift the dignity and making workspace safe of working women employees.
